Dear beloved Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
Greetings in Christ from Frosinone, Italy.
We are all well, apart from small issues and we also thank God for the way He is dealing with Bro. Mario and his two children for the loss of his wife.
As you know, Rosalba had cancer, but since they only had a girl and he once had a dream about him going to Thailand as a missionary with his wife plus two children, a boy and a girl, his wife stopped the cancer therapy to get her cycle back and be able to get pregnant. She wanted to give a boy to her husband. So, in fact she got pregnant and they had a boy, but as everything in a pregnant woman gets in motion, so did all the cancer cells.
So, the cancer spread all over her body and she got it in her bones, to the point that she couldn’t walk without pain. She got into another therapy, and it seems that she was doing OK, but again, she stopped the therapy because she said that she was tired and after all, God had healed her. Unfortunately, she didn’t get healed and she died last month.
As you can imagine, this became a sad season for the whole church, especially in seeing those two children, Esther and Elijah, nine and three years old, without a mother! The day before she died, her husband drove 12 hours to go and get her mother and her sister here, and he told me that while he was driving he prayed for a long time and at the end he got the assurance that Rosalba was healed! Well, what can we say to a man who put his faith in God to heal his wife? I could only say that there are times when we don’t understand why God doesn’t heal or doesn’t answer our prayers the way we ask, and also there are times when we think God told us something, but instead of being God, it was just a strong desire in our heart. Some other times we just didn’t understand what God was telling us.
Now he feels a little down because all the times he thought it was God who spoke to him, it wasn’t God after all. That cooled him down a little even spiritually regarding other things, so we need to pray for Bro. Mario and for his children.
In the past newsletters we shared about the good response we are having from other Pastors in the area, who all but one, were members of our church at one time and I have been their pastor for years. Well, last month we had one more meeting where they all agree that I would be their leading Pastor for two years, and help them get in motion for the many other things we want to do together.
Apart from out combined youth meetingswhich we are already doing, on Sept. 13th we will have a combined church meeting just three days before I leave for the States on the 16th. As we all know, this is God’s will, but we don’t want to run ahead of God. So, please pray for wisdom and for the anointing of the Holy Spirit so that we can have a complete restoration and be able to see God’s glory among us again.
As you almost all know by now, July and August are vacation months in Italy, so almost everyone goes to the beaches or to the mountains. So, in cities like Frosinone there are very few people left. So, we had some literature distribution in an area where the few people left in the city will go in the evening and we shared the gospel with them. We also made a few interviews to a few people who accepted to be on camera, and God willing we will try to put a couple of them on our website and on YouTube. If you go on Youtube right now we already have a video made with the Chick Tract “This Was Your Life” and another booklet called “You Are Important”. Their titles are: La Parabola dell’Ateo and Il Figlio Prodigo. Of course they are in Italian, but after all, there are so many things in the English language on the Internet, that you just need to “think” …click, and you’ll get them! J
Well, …well, well, well! Dear friends, our finances are really low at this time and I had to charge my flight ticket plus Anna’s ticket. She will go to assist our daughter in-law in Indianapolis, who will have a baby in October. After all, for many years I traveled alone, so we saved a lot of money on traveling. But this time I really need to ask for your help. A special one-time gift to boost a little our account, because I will need to charge all my Car Rental and Hotel expenses while I am traveling along the Eastern Coast. So, please, one special gift as the Lord will lay in your heart. We need to cover at least $5,000.00 expenses for this year’s trip.
On this trip, God willing I will be seeing some of you between Sept. 17th till Nov. 14th. Some of you are new contacts which I’ve just made, while others are long time friends and supporters. Please pray that God will grant us favors with every new contact and they can get involved in our ministry.
Every year before I start this trip, I think that God willing this will be my last trip in the USA, because at times I feel very tired and before I leave I need to take care of so many things. Then, as I see the needs it makes me re-thing about it and I will start preparing my new itinerary for the next year. Some contacts will wait until the end of my trip to call me, hoping that I will be able to meet them or that I can go to speak at their church. If I can’t see them, we will set an appointment for the next year. Unfortunately, for us it’s a little like those wild animals when they come down from the mountains to get away from the deep snow, to look for food because they are starving! J Well, for us it’s not a question of physical starvation, but if we want to continue to serve God and reach more unsaved people, we need to raise our monthly support.
Eventually, for the future one of the other things we can do, it’s to invite Pastors and short-mission groups to visit us, but we don’t have a hosting room or apartment, so whoever comes has to go to a hotel. In any case, it’s something I need to seriously think about and seek the face of God. I probably need to make one last trip to the central USA before I quit my traveling, but I am sure you understand very well what I am talking about. At 64 it’s not easy to go around alone for two months. We are not even talking about a vacation, because for me it’s not a vacation but a double work. After all, should I think to make a number of shorter trips, it would be more dispersive and more expensive.
We want to thank you in advance for your great love for us. I know that each one of you is doing the best in supporting our ministry and can’t afford to do more, but your faithfulness in sending your monthly support it’s very encouraging. Some of you are really going out of your way to help us. Others have not been able to support us financially. But are praying daily for us and for our ministry. I pray that God’s mighty blessing be upon you and your loved ones and that He will make your church and family finances increase many times over for your love for us and for the Italian people. That’s apart from the reward God is going to give to each one of us for the part we are taking in reaching new souls for Him. As I said other times, the reward for a soldier who is in the background preparing the weaponry and the food for those who are fighting in the first line will be just as glorious as the reward to those fighting in the first line! The only thing which will make the difference it’s the “spirit” and the zeal with which we do these things.
